Latest News > BNIT teacher, Benno Knill, supports the CISCO Queensland Networking Academy Skills Competition The Cisco Networking Academy, has personally thanked Benno and BNIT students for their support in designing and facilitating the Queensland Networking Academy Skills Competition which was held at Queensland University of Technology yesterday. "This event would not have been such a success without Their contribution" stated Louise Heppell, Cisco Higher Education and Networking Academy Programs coordinator.
Continuing Louise said, "It was great to have teams of students from Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, Queensland Institute of Technology and Skills Tech Australia participate in the competition. All students participating in the competition enjoyed the challenge of the competition as well as the opportunity to utilise the networking skills and knowledge which they have developed through their Networking Academy studies. We now look forward to having the winning team from Skills Tech Australia represent Queensland in the upcoming ANZ remote Skills Competition in October".
The IT faculty would also like to express it's gratitude to Benno for taking the time out of his busy schedule to support students and the Networking Academy in Queensland!

Latest News > Student Logs Onto Successful CareerStafford resident Andrew Riddell has logged on to a successful career as an information and communications technology officer at a Brisbane High School after completing a Diploma of Information and Technology (Systems Administration) through Brisbane North Institute of TAFE Ithaca campus.
Andrew, who studied full time and ran an IT repair business from home in order make ends meet, said he had always admired the progression of Information and Technology (IT) in Australia and had dreamt of a career in IT.
"Before I commenced study with Brisbane North Institute of TAFE I had a passion for IT but a very narrow view of the industry as well as limited skills. As a result of my study I am now highly skilled and have found career success within the industry," said Andrew.
At just 24 years old Andrew, who graduated from TAFE at the end of 2007, said the best part of his study was meeting teachers and students from different areas of the IT industry and being exposed to different fields, allowing him to develop his skills further.
"TAFE has given me the skills to overcome almost any IT related issue. There are, of course, skills I still need to obtain and I hope to do so through further study with Brisbane North Institute of TAFE," he continued.
Since graduating Andrew has commenced fulltime employment at Brisbane High School Mt St Michael's College as an Information and Communications Technology Officer.
